LTB Lasertechnik Berlin GmbH Becomes a Family-Owned Business
Generational Change in Adlershof’s High-Tech Forge
LTB Lasertechnik Berlin GmbH, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of UV gas lasers and high-resolution spectrometers based in the Science and Technology Park Berlin Adlershof, has been transformed into a family-owned business through the purchase of free business shares. The financial transaction was carried out with the active support of Commerzbank. From now on, the company will be led by a dual management team, consisting of the previously sole managing director, Dr. Matthias Scholz – who will now be responsible for the strategic development of the company – and his son, Christian Scholz, who will handle the day-to-day operations. Both hold 50 percent of the company shares.
Dr. Matthias Scholz, born in 1946, was a physicist at the former Academy of Sciences of the GDR, where he served as the head of the laser technology department at the Center for Scientific Instrumentation. In 1990, he initiated the founding of LTB Lasertechnik and has played a major role in the company’s success story. Christian Scholz, born in 1971, has been with the company for 14 years and has previously led the spectrometer division. He studied physical engineering before joining LTB.
LTB’s business activities include the development, manufacturing, and sales of pulsed lasers across the entire optical spectral range for industrial analytics and medical diagnostics; various high- and ultra-high-resolution spectrometers for the development and production of lasers and for laser lithography; and laser-based measurement technology for spectroscopic material analysis, process analytics, and medical diagnostics. The company sets the global standard for both UV pulsed lasers and high- and ultra-high-resolution spectrometers. The ELIAS spectrometer is unique worldwide.
