Method Combination for the Treatment of Sewage Sludge Ashes
In collaboration with the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) and the Institute for Applied Photonics e.V. (IAP), LTB Lasertechnik Berlin has developed an industry-related online analysis system for determining element content in sewage sludge ashes. For the first time, a combination of methods using laser-induced plasma spectroscopy (LIBS) and X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) was successfully demonstrated in a joint laboratory model. Through thermochemical processes, valuable materials such as phosphorus from the online analyzed sewage sludge ash can be made usable again for the circular economy, while harmful substances can be safely removed.
The project was supported by the Pro FIT program for the promotion of research, innovations, and technologies, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the leadership of the Investment Bank Berlin.
